The board is kinda dead so maybe I'm just talking for the sake of it, but I don't have anyone else around me that really likes Hot Hot Heat as much as I do, so I don't get to discuss them much. That being said, I want to know what works of their's are the board's favorites.

And don't pull that "but I love ALL of it!" crap :P

Scenes One Through Thirteen: Keep My Name Out of Your Mouth, Haircut Economics, Circus Maximus, Fashion Fight Pause, Spelling Live Backwards

Keep My Name Out was probably the best song on the album. It took me a while to really like this album, especially because of the bad sound quality. When I was a new Hot Hot Heat fan and first listened to Keep My Name Out, I actually thought it was Steve. It's an interesting chronicle of how they've grown as a band but it's not something I'd ever show to anyone but the most hardcore Hot Hot Heat fans.

Knock Knock Knock: Le Le Low, Touch You Touch You

Knock Knock Knock is an amazing EP. Every song is great in its own right, but Touch You Touch You is my favorite because it's got the whole nervous energy thing going for it and that's what Hot Hot Heat does best.

Make Up the Breakdown: No, Not Now, Get In Or Get Out, Bandages, This Town, Talk To Me, Dance With Me

Make Up the Breakdown is my favorite album. They did an incredible job of building momentum from the first sound of organ in Naked In The City Again. I only wish more pop was designed this well. The whole thing is so frantic and fun you can't really help but like it, in my opinion.

Elevator: Running Out of Time, You Owe Me An IOU, Soldier In A Box, Elevator

Elevator's not as consistently energetic as Make Up the Breakdown but it had its standouts. I love You Owe Me An IOU, and I think Elevator (the song) pulls off the whole "slow song to end the album with" thing better than In Cairo did.

Happiness Ltd.: 5 Times Out of 100, My Best Fiend, Give Up?

I didn't really like Happiness Ltd. too much, it just didn't feel like Hot Hot Heat to me. Starting it off with Happiness Ltd. killed my mood before I had listened to anything else on the album. Still, 5 Times Out of 100 is a pretty darn good remake, My Best Fiend has a lot of energy and makes the most of Hot Hot Heat's newfound penchant for heavy production (handclaps and what have you), and Give Up? is just nice to listen to in general.

I cannot really do this since I have more favorites than I can count and don't have a favorite album. I am also obssesed with most of their B sides and love their unreleased stuff. I am well versed in all of their music but if I had to pick what I like the least, it would be Scenes. There are a couple good tracks...I especially love Haircut Economics, but it just doesn't sound like Hot Hot Heat to me because it is a different rock genre and a different singer. But that's my personal opinion. I'd marry pretty much anything else. I know you didn't want a response like that but that's what I have to give you. And I must disagree with you about Happiness Ltd. I adore it and I think that Hot Hot Heat is just going in a slightly new direction, but I like that because it's not like a sequel to Elevator of MUTBD, it has elements from both, but it is it's own entity. I think it's great. I even love Outta Heart which is nothing like we've ever heard. I like that all their albums and everything is different from one another but I can tell within the first few notes of the songs that it IS HHH.

Yeah I forgot about those. Move On is one of their best songs.

No argument there. Although I'm suprised I'm apparently the only person to ever connect Marnik and Bays from their nasal edge.

I dunno if I can agree with this. I know bands shouldn't just make "The Last Album, part 2"s but Knock Knock Knock and Make Up the Breakdown were separate albums that were both fantastic in their own right. It was just so odd to listen to the new album because it felt so punchless. I hope I don't sound like a record store employee talking about how they "sold out" (lol) because I don't really think that's what happened. It's just weird to hear so much complexity from a band that had such a simple, catchy sound before.

A bad thing? No, I still liked a bunch of songs. Just an adjustment and I hope they figure out the direction they want to go in.
