I cannot believe I found this. This is the hidden track off of one of Hot Hot Heat's first ever EPs. In style it's similar to everything else from the Matty Marnik era. In substance, however, I think it's considerably different from most of the stuff on Scenes. The only song I can really link it to is, maybe, Fashion Fight Pause. Steve's keyboarding is considerably darker and doesn't have as much of its creepy edge but it creates a very nice nervousness and an eerie atmosphere which I think is an interesting precursor to his playing on Knock Knock Knock and Make Up the Breakdown. This is also my favorite of Dustin's work during that era, both in vocals and bass playing. Paul's drumming is just as fierce as it is from the rest of the Matty Marnik era. And speaking of Matty, he continues his trend of minimalistic lyrics and nasal screaming, although it seems to work really well when he's shouting "RICE PANDA EXPLOSION!" and I think it's his best work overall.

The song itself runs for about 2 minutes 30 seconds and the last 30 seconds are just the original members of the group talking about stuff. Matty is the one that... doesn't sound like Steve, Dustin, or Paul. Heh.

I hope you guys enjoy this little piece of Hot Hot History. Shiloh, do you think you would put this on LeLeLow as a rarity? It'd be nice if there was more than one electronic copy because I don't want it to get lost again.

OH MY GOD how did you find this? HOLY CRAP! I am downloading it right now...and then I can seperate the interview and mp3 so that it'll be two rarities...I'm so happy it's found! I can't put it up right now, though, because I'm doing some video stuff for HHH that is making my computer run really slow...so asap, I'll have it up!
